In the presence of the Dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Mosul, Assistant Professor Dr. Tahseen Mohsen Hussein, the master\u2019s thesis defense of student Israa Fouad Yaseen was held on the morning of Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the College of Nursing \/ University of Mosul. The thesis is entitled:
\n\u201cThe Relationship Between Maternal Vitamin D Levels, Pregnancy Symptoms, and Quality of Life.\u201d<\/p>\n

This thesis discussion falls within the framework of achieving the fourth Sustainable Development Goal (Quality Education). The study aimed to evaluate vitamin D levels among pregnant women, investigate the relationship between vitamin D deficiency and the severity of common pregnancy symptoms, analyze the impact of deficiency on physical, psychological, and social aspects of quality of life, and provide scientific recommendations to improve nutritional and health care for pregnant mothers.<\/p>\n

The study findings revealed a statistically significant relationship between low vitamin D levels and increased severity of pregnancy symptoms such as fatigue, back pain, and mood swings, as well as a decline in quality of life, particularly in physical and psychological aspects.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the study indicated that pregnant women with normal levels of vitamin D enjoyed better physical and mental health and experienced less severe pregnancy symptoms. This underscores the importance of including vitamin D screening and monitoring in primary healthcare programs for pregnant women.<\/p>\n

\n\u2022 Professor Dr. Salwa Hazem Al-Mukhtar \u2013 Member and Supervisor \/ College of Nursing \u2013 University of Mosul, who played a key role in academic supervision and following up on all stages of the thesis preparation<\/p>\n

The defense session featured an in-depth scientific discussion, during which a number of valuable observations and recommendations were presented, contributing to the enhancement of the thesis\u2019s quality and research depth.<\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the session, the committee decided to award the student Israa Fouad Yaseen a Master\u2019s Degree in Nursing Sciences, following the completion of the suggested revisions.<\/p>\n

On this occasion, the Deanery of the College of Nursing extends its warmest congratulations to the student, wishing her continued success in her academic and research journey.<\/p>\n
