Within the framework of academic initiatives aimed at promoting environmentally sustainable practices, the College of Petroleum and Mining Engineering at the University of Mosul organized a specialized training course entitled:<\/h4>\n

“Transforming Waste into Sustainable Infrastructure.”<\/h4>\n

The event featured the participation of a distinguished group of female faculty members specializing in engineering, as part of a series of scientific activities designed to connect academic concepts with practical, sustainable applications.<\/h4>\n

The course aimed to highlight the importance of utilizing waste\u2014particularly construction and plastic waste\u2014and transforming it into effective resources for creating environmentally friendly infrastructure. This contributes to reducing the environmental impact of the construction sector and supports the achievement of sustainable development goals.<\/h4>\n

    Module One: Principles of Sustainable Engineering<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    This module addressed the fundamental principles of sustainable engineering, including sustainable design concepts, life cycle assessment of materials, and environmentally, economically, and socially responsible engineering planning.<\/h4>\n

      Module Two: Recycling Construction Waste and Its Use in Infrastructure Projects<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      This module discussed the techniques and methods of recycling construction rubble (concrete, bricks, etc.) and its potential reuse in road layers, backfilling, and non-load-bearing structural components. It also included local and international case studies.<\/h4>\n

        The course concluded with an open discussion session, during which participants exchanged views and ideas regarding recycling applications in Iraq and emphasized the importance of raising community awareness about the necessity of reducing and reusing waste through innovative engineering methods.<\/h4>\n
