The Department of Petroleum and Refining Engineering organized a scientific workshop entitled:
\u201cMeasurements and Custody Transfer Using Oil Meters and Storage Tanks, and Meter Calibration.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to highlight the measurement systems adopted in the oil industry and the mechanisms of custody transfer of petroleum products using various types of storage tanks. It also reviewed the different types of meters used to measure petroleum quantities and the methods of calculating volumes with high accuracy, taking into account operational factors affecting measurement such as temperature, pressure, and density. The workshop further included documentary videos demonstrating practical calculation procedures, along with an explanation of the application of the international standard ISO 10012:2013 concerning measurement management systems and ensuring calibration accuracy and traceability.<\/p>\n

The lecture was delivered by Chief Senior Engineer Ammar Hazem Mohammed from the Oil Pipelines Company, who presented a distinguished scientific and practical session based on his field experience, enriching discussions with faculty members and participating students.<\/p>\n

This workshop aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, by promoting applied engineering education, and Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, through supporting accurate measurement systems and enhancing oil industry infrastructure in accordance with international standards.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
