The Department of Mining Engineering at the College of Petroleum and Mining Engineering organized a scientific workshop on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, on the occasion of International Geodiversity Day.<\/p>\n
The workshop featured a lecture entitled \u201cGeodiversity in Nineveh Governorate and Northern Iraq,\u201d delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Ezz Al-Din Saleh Al-Jawadi and Assistant Lecturer Dr. Iman Qasim Yahya Al-Awjar.<\/p>\n
The lecture addressed the most prominent features of geodiversity characterizing Nineveh Governorate and northern Iraq, highlighting the region\u2019s diverse geological formations, phenomena, and resources. It also discussed their scientific, economic, and environmental significance, as well as their role in the sustainable utilization of natural resources and supporting sustainable development pathways.<\/p>\n
