\nThe College of Pharmacy at the University of Mosul hosted the Master\u2019s thesis defense of the student Aya Saad Saeed on Thursday, December 18. Her research, titled “The Impact of GLP-1 Receptor Agonists on the Well-being of Obese Patients,” was presented in the college\u2019s seminar hall.
\nThe thesis focused on evaluating the safety and efficacy of GLP-1 Receptor Agonists (GLP-1 RAs) on the quality of life and dietary behavior among Iraqi adults struggling with obesity. Pharmacovigilance results revealed distinct safety profiles; Semaglutide was associated with more pronounced gastrointestinal and neuropsychiatric signals, whereas Tirzepatide appeared relatively safer.
\nKey Findings:
\n* Behavioral Correlation: The study indicated that a high Body Mass Index (BMI) is linked to increased emotional eating and reduced satiety.
\n* Clinical Improvement: Users of GLP-1 medications showed significant improvements in quality of life and appetite control.
\n* Holistic Approach: The persistence of emotional eating in some cases underscores the necessity of integrating pharmacological treatment with behavioral and psychological support for sustainable results.
\nThe session was attended by the Dean, Professor Dr. Yasser Fakhry Mustafa, along with several faculty members and postgraduate students.

\nThe committee praised the scientific rigor of the thesis and its relevance to modern obesity management. The thesis was accepted with minor revisions.<\/p>\n
