The College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad launched its Fourth International Scientific Conference, titled: “Iraq\u2019s National Security Strategy in Promoting Sustainable Development,”<\/em> on Wednesday, 27 November 2024. The opening ceremony witnessed a wide attendance of academics, researchers, and specialists from Iraq and the Arab world, including the Dean of the College of Political Science, University of Mosul, Assistant Professor Dr. Tareq Mohammed Tayyib Thahir.<\/h4>\n

Through its research sessions, the conference addressed building international partnerships with countries and organizations to leverage expertise and resources necessary for achieving sustainable development. Discussions emphasized the importance of diversifying income sources and reducing total reliance on oil, as well as preserving the environment, protecting natural resources, and addressing severe water and air pollution in Iraq. Additionally, the conference highlighted the need to enhance the participation of women and youth across the political, economic, and social dimensions of sustainable development, among other related topics.<\/h4>\n

The conference was held over two days under the slogan: “An Effective National Strategy for Sustainable Development,”<\/em> sponsored by the President of the University of Baghdad and in collaboration with the National Security Advisory.<\/h4>\n
