The Center for Regional Studies at the University of Mosul organized a discussion panel titled “Regional and International Implications of \u00d6calan\u2019s Declaration of Abandoning the Use of Force in Turkey” on Thursday, 6 March 2025. The session was chaired by the center\u2019s director, Professor Mithaq Khairallah Jaloud, and attended by a number of researchers. From the College of Political Science, two faculty members participated: Professor Dr. Salem Matar Abdullah from the International Relations Department, who presented his research paper on the international effects of this move on international policies; and Assistant Professor Dr. Tariq Mohammed Zanon Al-Taie, who presented his research paper discussing the regional and international implications of \u00d6calan\u2019s declaration of abandoning the use of force.<\/h4>\n

The participants emphasized that \u00d6calan\u2019s declaration represents a significant turning point in the regional political landscape, and it could have positive effects on the stability of the region, especially considering the complex relations between Iraq, Turkey, and Iran. The importance of following up on subsequent developments was also highlighted in order to assess the success of this step in achieving the desired lasting peace.<\/h4>\n
