A master\u2019s thesis entitled \u201cThe Legal Protection of Underwater Cultural Heritage\u201d by student Ruba Muhammad Khalil was defended at the College of Law, University of Mosul, on Monday, 30 June 2025.<\/h4>\n

The Dean of the College of Political Science, Assistant Professor Dr. Suhaib Khalid Jasem Al-Taie, and the College Council Rapporteur, Assistant Professor Dr. Younis Muayad Al-Dabbagh, attended part of the defense.<\/h4>\n

The thesis aimed to highlight that the Iraqi legislator did not allocate a specific provision for the protection of underwater cultural heritage in Antiquities and Heritage Law No. 55 of 2002. It also pointed out that the UNESCO Convention is the first independent international legal instrument that addresses the international protection of underwater cultural heritage.<\/h4>\n

After the discussion, the committee\u2019s decision was read, which included accepting the thesis and granting the student a master\u2019s degree.<\/h4>\n
