In the presence of the University of Mosul President, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and the Dean of the College of Political Science, Asst. Prof. Dr. Suhaib Khalid Jassim Al-Taie, the Master\u2019s thesis titled:<\/h4>\n

\u201cShaping Memory and Identity in \u2018Israeli\u2019 Education Curricula: A Case Study of Secondary Education Curricula\u201d<\/h4>\n

was discussed on Sunday, 20 July 2025. The thesis was submitted by Palestinian student Nour Fawaz Atiya under the “Study in Iraq” scholarship initiative.<\/h4>\n

The thesis explored the mechanisms of building a unified national \u201cIsraeli\u201d memory and identity by analyzing the values of memory and identity\u2014both quantitatively and qualitatively\u2014in selected samples from \u201cIsraeli\u201d educational curricula.<\/h4>\n

Its main objective was to uncover the attempts to shape an \u201cIsraeli\u201d identity-based memory through preparatory and secondary education curricula by stripping the memory and erasing the national identity of Jewish immigrants to \u201cIsrael,\u201d while seeking to construct and instill an alternative \u201cIsraeli\u201d memory.<\/h4>\n

The findings revealed that the more the Zionist elites sensed the inability of their ethno-religious identity to unify the diverse Jewish groups, the more they intensified their practices of politicizing and distorting the collective Jewish memory in order to manufacture a unified national \u201cIsraeli\u201d memory and identity\u2014especially through educational curricula.<\/h4>\n

The examination committee consisted of Asst. Prof. Dr. Yazan Khellouq Mohammed (Chair), Asst. Prof. Mohammed Saleh Shateeb (Member), Asst. Prof. Dr. Khairallah Subhan Al-Jubouri (Member), and Prof. Dr. Waleed Salem Mohammed (Member and Supervisor).<\/h4>\n

The defense session was attended by several members of the College Council, a number of current and retired faculty members, and a group of postgraduate students.<\/h4>\n

Following the discussion, the committee\u2019s decision was read, which included the acceptance of the thesis\u2014pending the necessary amendments\u2014and the awarding of the Master\u2019s degree to the student.<\/h4>\n
