In line with the Sustainable Development Goals, Goal 4: Quality Education, and Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions; a master\u2019s thesis was discussed at the College of Political Science, University of Mosul, on the topic \u201cThe Struggle for Power and Its Impact on Social Stability in Libya after 2011\u201d, submitted by the student Aya Maen Hashim Khalil, on Thursday, 11 September 2025.<\/h4>\n

The session was attended in part by the University\u2019s Vice Presidents for Scientific and Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Abdulrahim Ibrahim Jasim and Assistant Professor Dr. Rafal Hassan Hamed, accompanied by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Suhaib Khalid Jasim Al-Tai, along with a number of deans from other colleges.<\/h4>\n

The thesis aimed to clarify the role of the political system in achieving social stability in Libya after 2011, by identifying the policies and mechanisms adopted by the power contenders and their reflection on social stability; as well as examining the methodological and scientific foundations of conflicts, their settlement approaches, and preventive measures to avoid them, in addition to contributing to the dissemination of preventive culture to avoid conflicts in the Arab environment.<\/h4>\n

The study concluded that the revolution carried unified popular goals, represented by the complete overthrow of Gaddafi\u2019s regime, with no acceptance of any reform measures that would allow the head of the regime to remain in power. It also found that the weakness of the Libyan state structure was the result of the erosion of its national institutions, political and tribal divisions, and the competition for legitimacy among the conflicting parties that followed the revolution.<\/h4>\n

The discussion committee consisted of Assistant Professor Dr. Ziyad Sameer Zaki (Chairman), Assistant Professor Dr. Saadi Ibrahim Hussein (Member), Lecturer Dr. Afraa Riyadh Mohammed (Member), and Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Hussein Yaseen (Member and Supervisor).<\/h4>\n

After the discussion, the committee\u2019s decision was read, which included the acceptance of the thesis, with the required amendments, and granting the student the degree of Master\u2019s.<\/h4>\n
