In realization of the Sustainable Development Goals \u2014 Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals \u2014 Prime Minister Mr. Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani received a group of expatriate Iraqi researchers working in various research institutions on Saturday, 11 October 2025. Among the attendees was Dr. Firas Mohammed Ahmed Elias, a lecturer in the Department of International Relations at the College of Political Science, University of Mosul.<\/h4>\n

His Excellency emphasized the importance of maintaining communication and dialogue between the government and think tanks and research centers, highlighting the role of researchers in shaping events and perspectives and in providing support to decision-makers.<\/h4>\n

The Prime Minister affirmed the government\u2019s commitment to supporting the country\u2019s security and stability and its respect for all opinions and viewpoints, noting that some research centers and institutions do not convey the true image of Iraq, as they rely on unofficial sources.<\/h4>\n

The meeting included extensive discussions on developments in the region, the agreement on Gaza, Iraq\u2019s regional and international role, its Arab and global relations\u2014particularly with Russia and China\u2014updates on relations with the United States, as well as Iraq\u2019s relations with Iran and the government\u2019s measures to ensure that arms remain solely in the hands of the state.<\/h4>\n

The meeting also addressed the government\u2019s economic plans, banking reforms, progress in construction, reconstruction, infrastructure, and the Development Road project and related initiatives. Other topics included the relationship between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government in light of the recent agreement, the water file with Turkey and Iran, and the Khor Abdullah issue.<\/h4>\n

The discussions further touched upon the upcoming elections and the importance of broad citizen participation, the relationship between the executive and legislative branches, issues concerning Iraqi communities abroad, and the government\u2019s measures and steps regarding the reconstruction of Sinjar.<\/h4>\n
