In line with the Sustainable Development Goals, Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals; and under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with joint cooperation between the University of Mosul and the Iraqi National Security Service, and under the supervision of the University President, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, the scientific conference entitled \u201cCoexistence After Displacement: Strategies for Combating Extremism and Reintegration of Returnees\u201d was held under the slogan \u201cTogether for a Cohesive and Safe Society\u201d, during the period 26\u201327 October 2025.<\/h4>\n

The College of Political Science actively participated\u2014through its council members, faculty, staff, and students\u2014as one of the organizing partners in the preparatory, scientific, and media committees of the conference.<\/h4>\n

The opening session of the first day featured a research paper presented by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Suhaib Khalid Jassim Al-Taie, titled \u201cSocial Stigmatization of Returnees.\u201d The Dean also attended the evening program of the first day, which included a theatrical performance and a scientific session.<\/h4>\n

As for the scientific session on the second day, 27 Monday October 2025, it was chaired by Dr. Ali Bashar Bakr, Lecturer in the Department of International Relations.<\/h4>\n

The conference aimed to strengthen social cohesion and peaceful coexistence between returnees and host communities, combat extremist ideologies by building sustainable community and educational awareness, and empower groups affected by displacement\u2014particularly women and youth\u2014by involving them in community development. Moreover, it sought to reinforce the links between academic and security institutions and civil society organizations to adopt comprehensive approaches to human security and sustainable local development.<\/h4>\n
