Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and the supervision of Assist. Prof. Dr. Tareq Mohammad Tayeb Dhahir, Director of the Regional Studies Center, the Center \/Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Presidency of the Mosul University\/Studies and Planning Department\/Sustainable Development Unit, convened its 63rd scientific symposium titled \u201cThe Re-Activation of the Snapback Mechanism Against Iran and its Regional and International Implications\u201d on Sunday, October 5, 2025.<\/p>\n

The symposium aimed to analyze the dimensions of the decision to reimpose sanctions on Iran under the snapback mechanism and to provide an in-depth academic perspective on its potential impact inside Iran as well as its broader regional and international repercussions.<\/p>\n

The sessions included several specialized research papers, such as: The Legal Dimensions of UN Security Council Resolutions by Prof. Dr. Imad Khalil Ibrahim; The Economic Implications of Sanctions on Iran by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdulrahman Younis; The Impact of Sanctions on Iraq by Dr. Fawaz Mowafaq Thanoon; A Comparative Study of European and American Perspectives Toward Iran by Dr. Tareq Mohammad Thanoon; and The Russian and Chinese Positions on the Reimposition of Sanctions by Dr. Batool Halil Jubair.<\/p>\n

The symposium reflected the University of Mosul\u2019s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including ensuring quality education (Goal 4) through enriching academic knowledge, promoting economic growth and decent work (Goal 8) through discussion of economic implications, and advancing peace, justice, and strong institutions (Goal 16).<\/p>\n
