Regional Studies Center organized an academic seminar addressing \u201cThe Venezuelan Crisis in Its Political, Legal, and Geopolitical Dimensions and Its Regional and International Implications, particularly for the Middle East\u201d. The event was attended by a select group of specialized professors and researchers and took place on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.<\/p>\n

The seminar featured three research papers, as follows:<\/p>\n

The first paper was presented by Prof. Dr. Mithaq Khairallah Jaloud under the title: \u201cThe Geopolitical Weight of the United States and the Repercussions of the Arrest of the Venezuelan President\u201d.<\/p>\n

In his presentation, he discussed the strategic dimension of the U.S. role in Latin America and the significance of the arrest of the Venezuelan president within the framework of geopolitical influence and pressure policies.<\/p>\n

The second paper was delivered by Dr. Tare000q Mohammed Tayeb Al-Qassar, entitled: \u201cThe Venezuelan Crisis and Geopolitical Transformations: The Middle East as a Model\u201d.<\/p>\n

The paper highlighted the interlinkage of international crises and their mutual impacts, with a particular focus on the repercussions of the Venezuelan crisis on Middle Eastern power balances and conflict trajectories. It concluded with a set of recommendations directed at decision-makers.<\/p>\n

The third paper was presented by Prof. Dr. Imad Khalil Ibrahim under the title:<\/p>\n

\u201cU.S. Intervention in Venezuela between International Law and International Politics\u201d.<\/p>\n

This paper examined the legal dilemmas surrounding external interventions, the limits of international legitimacy, and the contradiction between legal texts and realistic political practices.<\/p>\n

The seminar witnessed in-depth discussions among participants, focusing on the repercussions of international crises on international peace and security, as well as the importance of strengthening dialogue and adherence to international law in addressing conflicts.<\/p>\n

Participants\u2019 interventions also linked the seminar\u2019s themes to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 16 related to peace, justice, and strong institutions, and Goal 17 concerning the strengthening of international partnerships. They emphasized that political stability and respect for international law constitute a fundamental basis for achieving sustainable development and mitigating the impacts of crises on societies and states.<\/p>\n

This seminar comes as part of a series of academic activities organized by the Center, aimed at deepening scholarly understanding of contemporary international issues and enhancing the role of scientific research in analyzing crises and shaping future-oriented perspectives.<\/p>\n
