In line with the directives of the Presidency of University of Mosul aimed at strengthening environmental awareness and promoting sustainability concepts within the university campus, Regional Studies Center organized an awareness lecture on Thursday, March 12, 2026, entitled \u201cEnvironmental Sustainability on Campus: Tree Planting as an Entry Point for Enhancing Environmental Awareness\u201d. The event was attended by a number of faculty members and researchers, in addition to several staff members of the Center.<\/p>\n
The lecture featured a scientific presentation highlighting the importance of tree planting in reducing environmental pollution and its role in moderating temperatures, improving air quality, and enhancing ecological balance within educational institutions. It also emphasized the importance of green spaces in creating a healthy and attractive learning environment that supports both educational and research activities.<\/p>\n
The event also included the display of several awareness posters within the center, focusing on the importance of caring for trees and green spaces and maintaining the cleanliness of the campus environment, thereby reinforcing a culture of environmental responsibility among students and staff.<\/p>\n
This initiative aims to promote environmental awareness within the university community and encourage students and researchers to participate in tree-planting campaigns and environmental activities that contribute to improving the campus environment and strengthening sustainability values. It also supports several Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and Goal 13 (Climate Action).<\/p>\n
This activity reflects the commitment of the Regional Studies Center to contributing to environmental and developmental initiatives adopted by the University of Mosul and to strengthening the role of academic institutions in spreading environmental awareness and promoting the principles of sustainable development in society.<\/p>\n
