The Remote Sensing Center at the University of Mosul<\/strong> organized a scientific and awareness activity<\/strong> represented by a field visit<\/strong> to both Al-Murabieen Secondary School for Gifted Students<\/em> and Al-Muntaliq Private Elementary School<\/em> on October 6, 2025<\/strong>, in celebration of International Geodiversity Day<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A series of lectures were delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman Ramzi Quba<\/strong>, Prof. Dr. Rayan Ghazi Thanon<\/strong>, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Abeer Adel Mohammed<\/strong>, focusing on \u201cGeodiversity and the Latest Techniques in Its Study.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

During the visit, simplified explanations were presented to students about the concepts of geodiversity<\/strong>, its role in natural resource extraction<\/strong>, and ways to benefit from Earth\u2019s resources<\/strong>. The lectures also introduced the principles of remote sensing<\/strong> and its modern applications<\/strong>, including the use of drones<\/strong> and artificial intelligence<\/strong> in data acquisition and interpretation to serve geological purposes.<\/p>\n

This activity comes as part of the Remote Sensing Center\u2019s programs<\/strong> supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>\u2014particularly Goal 13: Climate Action<\/strong> and Goal 15: Life on Land<\/strong>\u2014and reaffirms the University of Mosul\u2019s commitment<\/strong> to promoting scientific culture and environmental awareness across all segments of society.<\/p>\n
