As part of efforts to address climate change<\/strong>, Assistant Professor Dr. Abdul-Rahman Ramzi Qabaa<\/strong>, Director of the Remote Sensing Center, accompanied by a number of the Center\u2019s faculty members, conducted a field visit to the headquarters of the Nineveh Forest Nursery Directorate<\/strong>, with the aim of strengthening academic and environmental partnerships between educational institutions and service sectors in the governorate.<\/p>\n

The visit included extensive discussions on establishing prospects for joint cooperation<\/strong> between the two sides, as well as reviewing the scientific and technical capabilities of the Remote Sensing Center in monitoring and mapping green spaces<\/strong> and providing accurate geospatial data<\/strong> to support sustainable afforestation and greening initiatives.<\/p>\n

The two sides also discussed the implementation of large-scale tree-planting campaigns<\/strong> during the coming period. At the conclusion of the visit, both parties emphasized the importance of coordinating efforts and integrating scientific and practical perspectives to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong> and protect the environment.<\/p>\n

The visit aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 13 (Climate Action)<\/strong>, which calls for urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts, strengthen adaptive capacity, and support environmental policies that protect communities and natural ecosystems.<\/p>\n
