The “Legal Caravan” Mobile Legal Awareness Program:<\/p>\n
Based on the University of Mosul’s commitment to community engagement and activating institutional work to serve citizens, the College of Law launched the “Legal Caravan” program to achieve the goals of sustainable development in an informed society where justice and equality prevail.<\/p>\n
Vision:<\/p>\n
To spread legal awareness among all segments of Nineveh Governorate society and make initial legal consultations accessible to everyone, especially in remote and underserved areas.<\/p>\n
Mission:<\/p>\n
To promote the principles of the rule of law and citizenship by adopting an innovative field awareness approach based on direct outreach to local communities and providing simplified, free legal services.<\/p>\n
Strategic Objectives of the Program:<\/p>\n
1. To disseminate basic legal knowledge among citizens regarding laws that affect their daily lives.<\/p>\n
2. To empower vulnerable groups (internally displaced persons, returnees, women, and youth) by informing them of their rights and how to claim them.<\/p>\n
3. To reduce the burden on courts and state institutions by decreasing cases arising from ignorance of the law. 4. To provide a practical learning environment for college students where theoretical knowledge is applied and their communication and professional skills are developed.<\/p>\n
5. To enhance the university’s image as an active and vital partner in community reconstruction and nation-building.<\/p>\n
Target Groups:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Residents of neighborhoods, districts, and sub-districts in Nineveh Governorate (with priority given to the most affected areas and those furthest from the city center).<\/p>\n
\u2022 Returnees to their areas after the conflict.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Owners of small and medium-sized enterprises.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Young men and women.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Civil society centers and local organizations.<\/p>\n
Implementation Mechanism and Organizational Structure:<\/p>\n
1. Mobile Transportation Unit:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Vehicle: A small, attractively equipped bus displaying the university and program logos.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Interior Equipment:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Reception and registration area.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Laptops connected to a basic (non-sensitive) database.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Wireless printer for printing awareness leaflets or initial guidelines.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Small display screen or portable projector for displaying awareness materials.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Distribution boxes for printed materials. \u2022 A foldable tent for use in gathering places.<\/p>\n
2. Caravan Team:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Academic Supervisor: A faculty member specializing in civil, criminal, or international law.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Program Coordinator: An administrative staff member from the college.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Student Volunteer Team: (4-6 senior students or recent graduates) after intensive training.<\/p>\n
