\nOn Sunday, September 17, 2023, the Public Law Branch at the College of Law at the University of Mosul discussed a master\u2019s thesis on climate change and its impact on the elements of the state. Part of it was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Wissam Nemat Ibrahim Al-Saadi, Dean of the College, and a number of members of the College Council and its teachers.
\nThe thesis submitted by student Heba Duraid Khusraw in the Public Law branch dealt with climate change, which is one of the products of progress and development that has afflicted human societies since the beginning of the industrial revolution until the present time, as it was due to the excessive use of natural environmental resources, especially with regard to energy resources, in addition to industrial and urban expansion. It has serious repercussions on the composition of the atmosphere through increased concentrations of atmospheric greenhouse gases, which caused an imbalance in the energy balance in the climate system. Therefore, climate change was the first and greatest pandemic threat facing the environment that cannot be corrected quickly and easily due to its enormous, wide-ranging and potential impacts on aspects of human development.
\nThe study aims to show that the phenomenon of climate change has been the focus of the world\u2019s preoccupation par excellence, especially after the signing of the Kyoto Protocol in 1997, and that the main reason for the increase in the phenomenon of global warming leading to climate change is due to human activities, in addition to the fact that this phenomenon has begun to affect all countries of the world without exception, so there has been clear interest. We find this phenomenon in holding conferences and concluding agreements, whether international or national.
\nThe discussion committee was headed by Professor Dr. Muhammad Younis Yahya, the membership of Professor Dr. Raqeeb Muhammad Jassim, the assistant professor Dr. Suhad Abdul-Jamal Abdul Karim, and the membership and supervision of Professor Dr. Khalaf Ramadan Muhammad.
