\nA master’s thesis by student Abdul-Jabbar Rawi Abdul-Jabbar Hassan, entitled “Constitutional Engineering of Rights and Freedoms in Democratic Transition Countries (A Comparative Study),” was discussed at the College of Law at the University of Mosul on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. The thesis addressed the crucial role that constitutions play in protecting and promoting rights and freedoms in democratic transition countries, and the challenges they face in practical application. It also highlighted the vital role of constitutional courts in safeguarding rights and freedoms through its constitutional interpretations.
\nThe study aimed to analyze the concept of constitutional engineering as a mechanism for balancing rights and freedoms with the structure of the political system, clarify the challenges facing transitional countries in safeguarding and guaranteeing rights and freedoms, and provide a normative framework to guide these countries when drafting their constitutions. It also outlined the reality of national human rights institutions in comparative experiences and the prospects for their development.
