National laws and international charters have been keen to establish a set of rights that guarantee women their human dignity, ensure equality of opportunity, and provide protection from all forms of discrimination and violence.<\/p>\n<p>Empowering women legally is not limited to legislative texts but extends to spreading a legal culture that enhances respect for these rights and ensures their application on the ground. A woman who is aware of her rights and enjoys legal protection is more capable of contributing to development and building a society based on justice and the rule of law.<\/p>\n<p>On this occasion, we affirm that upholding women&#8217;s rights is not a legal luxury but a human and moral obligation that reflects the sophistication of societies and their respect for the principles of justice and equality.<\/p>\n<p>At the international level, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women affirmed the principle of equality between men and women in various political, economic, and social fields. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights also emphasized women&#8217;s right to dignity, freedom, and equality without discrimination. Likewise, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights stipulated the guarantee of women&#8217;s rights to a decent life, work, education, and participation in public life.<\/p>\n<p>At the national level, the Constitution of the Republic of Iraq of 2005 guaranteed the principle of equality among citizens before the law without discrimination and emphasized the protection of the family, motherhood, and childhood. Various Iraqi laws also included legal guarantees to protect women in the fields of work, education, and political participation.<\/p>\n<p>Protecting women is not merely legal texts; it is a moral and societal obligation that reflects the extent of societies&#8217; progress and their respect for the principles of justice and human rights.
