{"id":49206,"date":"2026-08-13T15:04:59","date_gmt":"2026-08-13T15:04:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/rights\/?p=49206"},"modified":"2026-08-13T15:04:59","modified_gmt":"2026-08-13T15:04:59","slug":"college-of-law-discusses-masters-thesis-on-international-mechanisms-in-confronting-cyber-terrorism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/rights\/2026\/08\/13\/college-of-law-discusses-masters-thesis-on-international-mechanisms-in-confronting-cyber-terrorism\/","title":{"rendered":"College of Law Discusses Master&#8217;s Thesis on International Mechanisms in Confronting Cyber Terrorism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">The College of Law at the University of Mosul witnessed the defense of the master&#8217;s thesis titled\u00a0<\/span><em><span class=\"\">&#8220;International Mechanisms in Confronting Cyber Terrorism&#8221;<\/span><\/em><span class=\"\">, submitted by student Rahma Jassim Mohammed Khudhair, under the supervision of Associate Professor Dr. Suhad Abdul Jamal Abdul Karim, on Monday, August 3, 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">The thesis examined the effectiveness of international and regional mechanisms in confronting cyber terrorism, as one of the most prominent contemporary cross-border security threats, through an analysis of the internationally adopted legal and institutional frameworks, and an exposition of the role of the United Nations and its specialized organizations, along with regional organizations, in enhancing international cooperation to combat this type of crime. The thesis also explored the legal problems associated with cyber terrorism, the distinctions between it and traditional cybercrimes, as well as an evaluation of relevant international conventions and the shortcomings in some international legal frameworks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">The study aimed to assess the efficiency of international and regional legal and institutional mechanisms in addressing cyber terrorism, and to propose legal and legislative solutions that contribute to strengthening international cooperation and developing accountability mechanisms, in line with the growing challenges of cyberspace and the preservation of international peace and security.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">The examination committee consisted of:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">Associate Professor Dr. Ziyad Abdul Wahab Abdullah \u2013 Chairperson.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">Associate Professor Dr. Nidal Mohammed Rashid \u2013 Member.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">Dr. Abdullah Dhanoon Al-Sawwaf (Lecturer) \u2013 Member.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">Associate Professor Dr. Suhad Abdul Jamal Abdul Karim \u2013 Member and Supervisor.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">This thesis comes within the framework of the College of Law&#8217;s commitment to supporting scientific research that addresses emerging legal issues, particularly those related to technological developments and cybercrimes, contributing to the enrichment of legal knowledge and the development of national and international legislation.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The College of Law at the University of Mosul witnessed the defense of the master&#8217;s thesis titled\u00a0&#8220;International Mechanisms in Confronting Cyber Terrorism&#8221;, submitted by student Rahma Jassim Mohammed Khudhair, under the supervision of Associate Professor Dr. Suhad Abdul Jamal Abdul Karim, on Monday, August 3, 2026.
