A delegation from the College of Law \u2013 University of Mosul, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Talal Abdul Hussein and Dr. Qais Abdul Wahab Issa, conducted a scientific visit to the Iraqi Council of Representatives and the Parliamentary Development Institute, with the participation of a number of college students. This visit was part of the College’s commitment to enhancing the practical aspect of legal education and bridging academic knowledge with legislative practice.<\/span><\/p>\n

The delegation began its visit with a meeting that brought together the Secretary-General of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Mr. Safwan Al-Jarjari, the Director-General of the Parliamentary Development Institute, Dr. Saad Fayyad, and Dr. Mohammed Qasim Al-Mayahi, Head of the Parliamentary Legislation Department. An extensive scientific dialogue took place, addressing the nature of parliamentary and legislative work, the role of the legislative institution in lawmaking, and the importance of communication between academic institutions and constitutional institutions in preparing a generation of legal professionals who possess theoretical knowledge and the ability to understand practical application.<\/span><\/p>\n

The meeting addressed a number of topics related to legislative work, particularly the stages of preparing, studying, drafting, and reviewing draft laws, as well as the mechanisms of work within the legislative institution. This provided students with the opportunity to become directly acquainted with the practical aspects of parliamentary and legislative work, and a detailed clarification of the role of the Parliamentary Development Institute in providing members of the Council of Representatives with knowledge support within the scope of the Council’s functions and legal powers.<\/span><\/p>\n

In an appreciative gesture reflecting the importance of communication between the legislative institution and Iraqi universities, the Secretary-General of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Mr. Safwan Al-Jarjari, along with the Parliamentary Development Institute, presented a commemorative shield to the visiting delegation and to the College of Law at the University of Mosul, in recognition of the visit and its role in strengthening the bridges of cooperation and scientific communication between the Council of Representatives and the academic institution.<\/span><\/p>\n

The visit also allowed students the opportunity to directly observe the parliamentary and legislative work environment, ask questions, and engage in discussions with officials and specialists, which contributed to enhancing their legal knowledge and connecting the theoretical knowledge they receive in lecture halls with practical application within the legislative institution.<\/span><\/p>\n

The delegation also visited the Parliamentary Library within the Parliamentary Research Department and met with its Director-General, Dr. Mayada Abdul Kadhim Al-Hajjami. The visit included an overview of the nature of the Parliamentary Library’s work and its tasks in providing sources, references, and knowledge materials that contribute to supporting researchers and postgraduate students, as well as introducing its capabilities and services in both the legislative and research fields.<\/span><\/p>\n

For its part, the Department affirmed its ongoing readiness to cooperate with academic and educational institutions and research and study centers, and to provide all possible support to researchers and postgraduate students, thereby enhancing the path of scientific research, contributing to the exchange of knowledge and expertise, and supporting the establishment of firm bridges of institutional cooperation between the Council of Representatives, universities, and research centers.<\/span><\/p>\n

This visit comes within the College of Law at the University of Mosul’s approach to expanding the scope of field learning and enhancing students’ openness to state institutions, contributing to the development of a legally aware personality capable of combining academic knowledge with practical understanding of constitutional and legislative institutions.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
