{"id":49494,"date":"2026-08-28T10:26:34","date_gmt":"2026-08-28T10:26:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/rights\/?p=49494"},"modified":"2026-08-28T10:26:34","modified_gmt":"2026-08-28T10:26:34","slug":"college-of-law-at-the-university-of-mosul-discusses-doctoral-dissertation-on-the-legal-aspects-of-green-financing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/rights\/2026\/08\/28\/college-of-law-at-the-university-of-mosul-discusses-doctoral-dissertation-on-the-legal-aspects-of-green-financing\/","title":{"rendered":"College of Law at the University of Mosul Discusses Doctoral Dissertation on the Legal Aspects of Green Financing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">The College of Law at the University of Mosul witnessed, on Thursday, August 27, 2026, the discussion of the doctoral dissertation titled\u00a0<\/span><strong><span class=\"\">&#8220;Legal Aspects of Green Financing \u2013 A Comparative Study&#8221;<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"\">\u00a0, presented by the student\u00a0<\/span><strong><span class=\"\">Aseel Fadel Ismail<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"\">, under the supervision of\u00a0<\/span><strong><span class=\"\">Professor Dr. Ayser Essam Daoud<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">The dissertation addressed the topic of green financing as one of the modern financing types that emerged in response to global environmental challenges, particularly climate change and natural disasters, as well as the environmental impacts resulting from industrial advancement, through the provision of financial facilities to green projects capable of addressing these challenges.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">The dissertation also examined the most prominent financial instruments through which green financing is realized, foremost among them green bonds and sukuk (Islamic certificates), along with an explanation of the legal provisions regulating them. It also covered the entities that can provide this type of financing, including green banks, green financing companies, and green funds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">The study adopted the comparative approach by comparing the position of the Iraqi legislator with a number of comparative legislations, particularly UAE, Egyptian, and Jordanian legislations, with the aim of benefiting from the experiences of these countries and utilizing them to address legislative gaps and regulate the provisions of green financing more clearly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\"><span class=\"\">The dissertation aimed to clarify the concept of green financing and its distinctive characteristics compared to traditional financing, to regulate its financial instruments, to identify the entities responsible for it, to protect its parties, and to ensure that funds are directed to the designated green projects.
