The College of Law at the University of Mosul held a scientific workshop addressing the subject of academic publishing in rigorous scientific journals and the international legal responsibility associated with publishing in predatory, fake, hijacked, and commercial journals, within the framework of the College’s keenness to promote a culture of rigorous scientific research and to entrench the principles of academic integrity.<\/span><\/p>\n

The lecture centered on the mechanisms and requirements of scientific publishing in rigorous journals, particularly those indexed in Scopus and Clarivate databases, while elucidating the scientific criteria that a researcher ought to adopt when selecting an appropriate journal for the publication of his or her scientific output. The lecture also addressed the most prominent risks entailed in publishing in predatory, fake, hijacked, and commercial journals, and the means of verifying the reliability of journals and their scholarly standing, in a manner that contributes to enhancing the quality of scientific research and preserving academic integrity.<\/span><\/p>\n

The lecture further addressed the international legal responsibility pertaining to academic publishing, the repercussions of dealing with unreliable entities and journals, and the reflection thereof upon the reputation of the researcher and the academic institution, with emphasis on the importance of verifying the reliability of journals, their databases, and their indexes prior to submitting research for publication.<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to enhance the awareness of researchers and postgraduate students regarding the professional and ethical standards of scientific publishing, and to protect them from non-rigorous publishing practices, thereby contributing to the safeguarding of academic integrity, the elevation of the quality of scientific output, and the support of the trajectory of scientific research at the University.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
