The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Geology and Petroleum at the University of Mosul is a four-year, full-time undergraduate program comprising 240 ECTS credits, aligned with the Bologna Process. The program provides students with a strong foundation in fundamental geological sciences, earth materials, structural geology, stratigraphy, and paleontology, followed by advanced study in specialized branches such as petroleum geology, economic geology, hydrogeology, engineering geology, and geophysics. The curriculum integrates theoretical knowledge with laboratory analyses, geological fieldwork, mapping techniques, research activities, and project-based learning to develop technical competence and professional skills. Graduates acquire the analytical, practical, communication, and problem-solving abilities required to explore earth resources, assess geological hazards, manage groundwater, and support civil and environmental infrastructure projects. The program also prepares graduates for professional geological practice, lifelong learning, and postgraduate studies while promoting ethical responsibility, teamwork, innovation, and a commitment to serving the needs of society and supporting sustainable development.<\/p>\n

  1. Provide students with a comprehensive education that establishes a strong foundation in the core disciplines of geological sciences while fostering scientific reasoning, analytical thinking, and field observation skills.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

Prepare graduates for successful professional careers and postgraduate studies by developing their knowledge and ability to investigate earth materials, map geological structures, and evaluate natural resources in accordance with recognized professional standards and ethical practices.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      1. Develop students’ technical and practical competencies through laboratory analyses, geological Fieldwork training, subsurface interpretation, undergraduate research, and the effective use of modern geological software, digital technologies, and analytical instruments.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        1. Enhance graduates’ communication, leadership, teamwork, and project management skills, enabling them to effectively participate in multidisciplinary earth science teams and manage exploration or environmental assessment projects.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            Upon successful completion of the program requirements, graduates are awarded the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Geology and Petroleum by the University of Mosul.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

            The program is classified at Level 6 of the Iraqi National Qualifications Framework (INQF), or its equivalent, in accordance with the regulations and guidelines of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
