{"id":41320,"date":"2025-07-30T05:53:21","date_gmt":"2025-07-30T05:53:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/science\/?p=41320"},"modified":"2025-07-30T05:53:21","modified_gmt":"2025-07-30T05:53:21","slug":"%f0%9f%8e%89-new-genetic-discoveries-registered-by-faculty-member-and-phd-student-from-the-department-of-biology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/science\/2025\/07\/30\/%f0%9f%8e%89-new-genetic-discoveries-registered-by-faculty-member-and-phd-student-from-the-department-of-biology\/","title":{"rendered":"\ud83c\udf89 New Genetic Discoveries Registered by Faculty Member and PhD Student from the Department of Biology"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"175\" data-end=\"646\">As part of the ongoing scientific achievements at the College of Science, Professor Dr. Mahmood Ismail Mohammed from the Department of Biology, in collaboration with Assistant Professor Dr. Sarab Dawood Suleiman from Al-Hadba University and PhD student Manar Khudhur Ahmed from the Zoology Division, have successfully registered <strong data-start=\"504\" data-end=\"534\">three new genetic variants<\/strong> of the <em data-start=\"542\" data-end=\"566\">Alpha-synuclein (SNCA)<\/em> gene in the <strong data-start=\"579\" data-end=\"635\">National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI)<\/strong> gene bank.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"648\" data-end=\"1096\">These newly identified variants, registered under the accession numbers <strong data-start=\"720\" data-end=\"756\">PV550272, PV550271, and PV522068<\/strong>, were discovered in patients with Parkinson\u2019s Disease and individuals with a family history of the disease in the city of Mosul.
