A New Scientific Achievement at the College of Science<\/p>\n
In a scientific achievement that adds to the College of Science’s record of research successes, a research team from the Department of Biology Sciences has successfully registered a new fungal strain for the first time globally at the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) under the scientific name:<\/p>\n
Ganoderma resinaceum strain FHM4.<\/p>\n
The research team includes Professor Dr. Faten Nouri Mulla Abdul, Lecturer Dr. Hiba Hadi Taha, and graduate student Mustafa Jamal Shukr. The strain was isolated from farms near the Domiz area in Mosul as part of a field survey program for large basidiomycetes, given the scientific, environmental, and medical importance of these fungi, which contribute to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals.<\/p>\n
The results of this discovery were published in a scientific paper titled:<\/p>\n
(Molecular diagnosis of the Ganoderma isolated from Mosul city, Iraq and isolation of some of its active compounds)<\/p>\n
in a reputable scientific journal indexed in Scopus (Q3 category), thus enhancing the College of Science’s presence in the field of international scientific research.<\/p>\n
On this occasion, the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, extends her warmest congratulations to the distinguished research team, in recognition of their valuable scientific efforts and their contribution to raising the profile of the University of Mosul in international research circles.<\/p>\n
