Under the auspices of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and with the supervision and guidance of the Dean of the College of Science, Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim, and in cooperation with the University of Mosul Presidency\/Department of Studies and Planning \u2013 Sustainable Development Unit, and with the follow-up of the Head of the Department of New and Renewable Energy, Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Munir Suhail, a scientific workshop was held at the College of Science on Monday morning, October 13, 2025, in the Ibn Sina Hall \u2013 Department of New and Renewable Energy. The workshop was presented by Assistant Lecturers Zainab Abdul Aziz Jameel, Inas Abdul Qader Hassan, and Omar Younis Ismail.<\/p>\n

The workshop addressed the topic of Multi-Objective Optimization (MOO), a mathematical optimization method concerned with finding the best solutions to problems with multiple and conflicting objectives. It does not limit itself to a single optimal solution, but rather seeks a set of solutions that represent the best possible trade-offs between different objectives, known as the Pareto interface.<\/p>\n

The workshop also reviewed applications of multi-objective optimization in various fields such as medicine, commerce, and engineering, particularly in chemical engineering and conversion processes. This approach can be employed to improve chemical processes from economic perspectives (increasing profits and reducing expenses), environmental perspectives (reducing carbon dioxide emissions and increasing efficiency), safety and security perspectives, and energy consumption reduction.<\/p>\n
