{"id":46786,"date":"2026-05-11T15:30:10","date_gmt":"2026-05-11T15:30:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/science\/?p=46786"},"modified":"2026-06-07T07:30:42","modified_gmt":"2026-06-07T07:30:42","slug":"faculty-member-from-the-college-of-science-chairs-masters-thesis-defense-committee-at-the-university-of-duhok","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/science\/2026\/05\/11\/faculty-member-from-the-college-of-science-chairs-masters-thesis-defense-committee-at-the-university-of-duhok\/","title":{"rendered":"Faculty Member from the College of Science Chairs Master&#8217;s Thesis Defense Committee at the University of Duhok"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">As part of ongoing academic cooperation and the exchange of scientific expertise between universities, <strong>Professor Dr. Nabil Subhi Othman<\/strong>, a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry at the College of Science, chaired the examination committee for a Master&#8217;s thesis defense at the College of Science, University of Duhok, on <strong>Tuesday, 5 May 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The thesis was entitled:<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\"><strong>\u201cDevelopment of MOF-PET Based Thin Films for Trace Acenaphthene Analysis and Cr(VI) Removal in Environmental Water Samples\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">and was submitted by <strong>Hayat Asaad Salih<\/strong> under the supervision of <strong>Assistant Professor Dr. Barween Hashim Salim<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The study focused on the development and evaluation of two innovative thin-film materials, <strong>NH\u2082-MIL-101(Fe)\/PET<\/strong> and <strong>MIL-53(Fe)\/PET<\/strong>, utilizing recycled <strong>polyethylene terephthalate (PET)<\/strong> polymers as a flexible matrix for environmental remediation applications.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The research was divided into two main parts. The first involved the preparation of the composite material for the analysis of <strong>acenaphthene<\/strong> in aqueous solutions using the <strong>micro solid-phase extraction (\u03bcSPE)<\/strong> technique.
