The Department of Chemistry at the College of Science \u2013 University of Mosul held, on Thursday, May 7, 2026, the PhD dissertation titled:<\/p>\n

\u201cModification of a Biosensor for the Detection of Tumor Biomarkers with Clinical Biochemical Diagnosis and Statistical Analysis\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

presented by PhD candidate Mohammed Ihsan Majeed Abdulhamid Al-Hamdani<\/strong>, in the presence of the Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Hiam Adel Ibrahim<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The dissertation aimed to develop advanced biosensors for the detection of prostate-specific antigen (PSA)<\/strong>, an important biomarker for prostate cancer, through an integrated research framework covering several methodological approaches.<\/p>\n

The first part focused on computational and theoretical analysis using molecular docking techniques to predict binding mechanisms, affinity strength, and interaction stability between the antigen and various sensing molecules, including DNA bases, glutathione, and arginine.<\/p>\n

The second part involved the development and evaluation of an electrochemical biosensor based on DNA nanostructures, demonstrating high efficiency in PSA detection.<\/p>\n

The third part focused on designing a highly sensitive glutathione-based electrochemical immunosensor, highlighting its advantages in biosensor fabrication in terms of sensitivity and stability.<\/p>\n

The fourth part introduced a novel arginine-based colorimetric biosensor suitable for rapid clinical applications.<\/p>\n

The fifth part provided a comprehensive biochemical evaluation comparing prostate cancer patients with healthy individuals across different age and weight groups, revealing a significant increase in PSA levels among patients, confirming its diagnostic importance and its association with pathological changes in prostate tissues.<\/p>\n

The examination committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Ammar Abdul Sattar Ibrahim<\/strong>, with membership of Asst. Prof. Dr. Israa Hikmat Youssef Majeed<\/strong>, Asst. Prof. Dr. Iman Adel Hadi Hamdoun<\/strong>, Asst. Prof. Dr. Alaa Mohammed Tayeh Hassan<\/strong>, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Rawiya Zghloul Saeed Ahmed<\/strong>, with supervision and membership by Prof. Dr. Rabah Ali Khalil<\/strong> and Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Bahri Hassan Abdul<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the discussion, the committee praised the scientific level of the dissertation and its applied importance in medical and diagnostic fields, considering it a valuable contribution to biosensor research and clinical applications.<\/p>\n

On behalf of the Dean of the College of Science, a letter of appreciation was presented to Asst. Prof. Dr. Rawiya Zghloul Saeed<\/strong> from the Northern Technical University in recognition of her efforts and participation in the examination committee.<\/p>\n
