{"id":47426,"date":"2026-04-19T15:00:53","date_gmt":"2026-04-19T15:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/science\/?p=47426"},"modified":"2026-06-10T07:24:34","modified_gmt":"2026-06-10T07:24:34","slug":"workshop-discusses-psychological-support-and-suicide-prevention-strategies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/science\/2026\/04\/19\/workshop-discusses-psychological-support-and-suicide-prevention-strategies\/","title":{"rendered":"Workshop Discusses \u201cPsychological Support and Suicide Prevention Strategies\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The Women&#8217;s Affairs Committee at the College of Science, in cooperation with the Women&#8217;s Affairs Unit at the University Presidency and the Department of Life Sciences, organized a workshop entitled <strong>\u201cPsychological Support and Suicide Prevention Strategies.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The workshop was held on Thursday, 16 April 2026, in <strong>Dr. Mahmoud Al-Haj Qasim Hall<\/strong> at the Department of Biology, with the attendance of a number of faculty members and students.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The workshop was delivered by:<\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li><strong>Assist. Prof. Dr. Alaa Hussein<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Assist. Prof. Dr. Angham Jabbar Alwan<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Assist. Lecturer Eileen Muwaffaq Khalil<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Assist. Lecturer Hiba Fares Ahmed<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The workshop aimed to enhance students\u2019 awareness of mental health and equip them with practical strategies for coping with psychological stress and preventing high-risk behaviors. It also sought to promote a culture of seeking help and psychological support within the university environment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Several important topics were addressed during the workshop, including the identification of indicators of mental health disorders, early intervention approaches, psychological first-aid skills, and the role of families and universities in suicide prevention and the creation of a supportive and safe environment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">This activity contributed to the achievement of several <strong>United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>, particularly <strong>Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being<\/strong> through the promotion of mental health, <strong>Goal 4: Quality Education<\/strong> through awareness and knowledge dissemination, and <strong>Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions<\/strong> by supporting a safe, cohesive, and inclusive university environment.<\/p>\n<p
