{"id":47492,"date":"2026-04-17T16:00:03","date_gmt":"2026-04-17T16:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/science\/?p=47492"},"modified":"2026-06-10T08:15:33","modified_gmt":"2026-06-10T08:15:33","slug":"registration-of-two-new-bacterial-isolates-in-the-ncbi-database","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/science\/2026\/04\/17\/registration-of-two-new-bacterial-isolates-in-the-ncbi-database\/","title":{"rendered":"Registration of Two New Bacterial Isolates in the NCBI Database"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">A research team from the Department of Biology, College of Science, University of Mosul, has successfully registered a number of bacterial isolates in the database of the <strong>National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI)<\/strong> as part of its academic research activities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The research was conducted under the supervision of <strong>Prof. Dr. Amjad Abdulhadi Mohammed<\/strong>, with the participation of graduating students <strong>Tabarak Ammar Ali<\/strong> and <strong>Baraa Nazim Mustafa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The registered bacterial isolates belong to the species <em><strong>Priestia megaterium<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Bacillus sonorensis<\/strong><\/em>, which were isolated from the root nodules of broad bean plants (<em><strong>Vicia faba<\/strong><\/em><strong> L.<\/strong>) grown under different stress conditions in the greenhouse of the College of Science, University of Mosul. The isolates were identified using molecular techniques based on the analysis and sequencing of the <strong>16S rRNA gene<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The genetic sequences were officially deposited in the <strong>GenBank<\/strong> database of NCBI under the following accession numbers:<\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\" data-spread=\"false\">\n<li><em><strong>Priestia megaterium<\/strong><\/em><strong> strain TBA3 16S<\/strong> \u2014 <strong>PZ231463.1<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Bacillus sonorensis<\/strong><\/em><strong> strain TBA2<\/strong> \u2014 <strong>PZ231461.1<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">This achievement represents an important contribution to academic scientific research by documenting the molecular data of bacterial isolates and making them accessible to researchers worldwide.
