The Department of Biology at the College of Science, University of Mosul, organized three scientific seminars for postgraduate students on Wednesday, 10 June 2026, in Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Al-Haj Qasim Hall<\/strong>, with the attendance of faculty members and postgraduate students.<\/p>\n

The first seminar was presented by PhD candidate Hadeel Tariq Saadoun<\/strong>, specializing in Zoology, and was entitled:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Effect of Ovariohysterectomy on Selected Physiological and Biochemical Parameters in Female Rabbits.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The study investigated the impact of ovariohysterectomy on a number of physiological and biochemical variables in female rabbits, aiming to clarify the physiological changes associated with the procedure and their effects on various biological functions.<\/p>\n

The second seminar was delivered by PhD candidate Zahraa Khazal Hamdoun<\/strong>, specializing in Botany, and was entitled:<\/p>\n

\u201cMolecular and Biochemical Characterization of \u03b2-1,3-Glucanase Isolated from Selected Local Soil Fungi and Investigation of Its Biological Applications.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The research focused on the isolation of the enzyme from selected local soil fungi, its molecular and biochemical characterization, and the exploration of its potential biological applications in various scientific and biotechnological fields.<\/p>\n

The third seminar was presented by Master\u2019s student Aya Duraid Abdullah<\/strong>, specializing in Microbiology, and was entitled:<\/p>\n

\u201cMolecular Diagnosis of Microbial Community in Diabetic Foot Injury.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The seminar addressed the molecular identification of microbial communities associated with diabetic foot infections and highlighted the importance of understanding microbial diversity in such conditions to improve diagnostic approaches and enhance treatment strategies.<\/p>\n

These seminars were conducted as part of the postgraduate research requirements. The first seminar was supervised by Prof. Dr. Muntaha Mahmoud Al-Qattan<\/strong>, while the second was supervised by Prof. Dr. Amjad Abdulhadi Mohammed<\/strong> and Assist. Prof. Dr. Badia Abdul Razzaq Jamal<\/strong>. The third seminar was supervised by Prof. Dr. Ameera Mahmoud Mohammed Al-Rawi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The seminars witnessed productive scientific discussions and valuable academic contributions from attendees, which enriched the research topics and provided constructive feedback to support the development and quality of postgraduate research projects.<\/p>\n

This activity aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>, particularly Goal 4: Quality Education<\/strong>, through the promotion of postgraduate education and scientific research, Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being<\/strong>, through research related to health and biomedical sciences, and Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure<\/strong>, by supporting scientific innovation and applied biological research.<\/p>\n
