{"id":48085,"date":"2026-04-13T17:00:41","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T17:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/science\/?p=48085"},"modified":"2026-06-15T07:49:30","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T07:49:30","slug":"registration-of-multiple-bacterial-isolates-in-the-ncbi-database-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/science\/2026\/04\/13\/registration-of-multiple-bacterial-isolates-in-the-ncbi-database-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Registration of Multiple Bacterial Isolates in the NCBI Database"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">As part of its ongoing efforts to support scientific research and document molecular data, a research team from the Department of Biology, College of Science, successfully registered several bacterial isolates in the database of the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), reflecting the department\u2019s distinguished academic and research activities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">This research project was conducted under the supervision of <strong>Assistant Lecturer Ashwaq Hazim Najm<\/strong>, with the participation of research project students <strong>Maimouna Alaa Al-Din<\/strong> and <strong>Marwa Hani Mahmoud<\/strong>. The team worked on the isolation and identification of several bacterial species using advanced molecular biology techniques.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The registered bacterial isolates included <strong>Klebsiella oxytoca<\/strong>, <strong>Pantoea dispersa<\/strong>, and <strong>Serratia liquefaciens<\/strong>, which were isolated from components of water pipes (hookahs). The isolates were identified through molecular analysis and <strong>16S rRNA gene sequencing<\/strong>, a highly reliable method for the accurate characterization of bacterial species.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The genetic sequences were officially deposited in the <strong>GenBank<\/strong> database of the <strong>National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI)<\/strong> under the accession identifiers <strong>AMM1, AMM2, and AMM3<\/strong>, ensuring their preservation and accessibility to researchers worldwide.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">This achievement forms part of the requirements of academic scientific research and contributes to enriching global biological databases with accurate molecular information.
