{"id":48409,"date":"2026-04-06T19:00:23","date_gmt":"2026-04-06T19:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/science\/?p=48409"},"modified":"2026-06-17T08:51:04","modified_gmt":"2026-06-17T08:51:04","slug":"a-new-scientific-achievement-added-to-the-record-of-the-college-of-science-first-of-its-kind-in-iraq","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/science\/2026\/04\/06\/a-new-scientific-achievement-added-to-the-record-of-the-college-of-science-first-of-its-kind-in-iraq\/","title":{"rendered":"A New Scientific Achievement Added to the Record of the College of Science \u2013 First of Its Kind in Iraq"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">A research team from the College of Science, led by the Dean of the College, <strong>Prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim<\/strong>, in collaboration with <strong>Dr. Mohammed Mahdi Saleh<\/strong>, Rapporteur of the Department of Forensic Evidence, and <strong>Dr. Iman Mahmoud Khudair<\/strong>, a faculty member in the Department of Biology, has successfully registered a rare bacterial isolate in the database of the <strong>National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI)<\/strong> as part of their academic research activities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The recorded bacterial isolate belongs to the rare species <strong>Eikenella halliae<\/strong>, which was isolated from <strong>eye secretions<\/strong>. This anaerobic bacterial species is considered difficult to isolate and was first identified globally in 2020.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The research team identified the isolate using molecular techniques based on the analysis of the <strong>16S rRNA gene sequencing<\/strong>.
