As part of supporting scientific research and enhancing the academic capabilities of graduate students, the Department of Geology and Petroleum Sciences \/ College of Science at the University of Mosul held a scientific seminar on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, presented by M.Sc. student Berta Daniel Yohana<\/strong> entitled:<\/p>\n

\u201cDepositional Environment and Petrophysical Properties of the Shu’aiba Formation (Early Qamchuqa) in Well K260, Kirkuk Oil Field, Northeastern Iraq\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The seminar was supervised by Professor Dr. Rafi Ibrahim Abdullah<\/strong> and Assistant Professor Dr. Bashar Aziz Mahmood Al-Juraisy<\/strong>, and was attended by the Head of the Department, Dr. Omar Khallouq Mohammed Sajid<\/strong>, along with a number of faculty members and graduate students.<\/p>\n

The study focused on determining the depositional environment and petrophysical characteristics of the formation within the Kirkuk Oil Field using well-log data provided by the North Oil Company in Kirkuk. The research also included a petrographic and microscopic examination of thin sections prepared from rock samples collected from the field.<\/p>\n

The seminar contributed to enriching scientific discussions and strengthening the research capabilities of graduate students in the field of geology and petroleum sciences.<\/p>\n
