{"id":49042,"date":"2026-02-28T21:00:44","date_gmt":"2026-02-28T21:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/science\/?p=49042"},"modified":"2026-06-24T16:11:26","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T16:11:26","slug":"workshop-on-united-nations-security-council-resolution-1325-and-mechanisms-for-achieving-its-objectives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/science\/2026\/02\/28\/workshop-on-united-nations-security-council-resolution-1325-and-mechanisms-for-achieving-its-objectives\/","title":{"rendered":"Workshop on United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 and Mechanisms for Achieving Its Objectives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, <strong>Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi<\/strong>, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, <strong>Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim<\/strong>, the Women\u2019s Affairs Committee at the College of Science, in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning \/ Sustainable Development Unit, the Women\u2019s Affairs Unit at the University Presidency, and the Educational and Psychological Research Center at the University of Mosul, organized a scientific workshop entitled:<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\"><strong>\u201cUnited Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 and Mechanisms for Achieving Its Objectives.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The workshop was held within the framework of implementing the <strong>Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace and Security<\/strong>, specifically under the pillars of <strong>Protection and Prevention<\/strong>, in line with national and international efforts aimed at strengthening the role of women and ensuring their active participation in peacebuilding and decision-making processes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The workshop aimed to highlight the provisions of <strong>United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325<\/strong>, focusing on its key pillars: <strong>participation, protection, prevention, and relief and recovery<\/strong>. It also addressed mechanisms for implementing the resolution at both the national and institutional levels, while promoting awareness of the importance of empowering women across academic and community sectors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The workshop lectures were delivered by:<\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li><strong>Assistant Professor Dr. Yasser Mahfoudh Hamid<\/strong>, Director of the Educational and Psychological Research Center<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lecturer Dr. Hiba Khalil Saeed<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Assistant Lecturer Alin Muwaffaq Khalil<\/strong>, Head of the Women\u2019s Affairs Committee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The workshop was linked to several <strong>Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>, particularly:<\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li><strong>SDG 5:<\/strong> Gender Equality<\/li>\n<li><strong>SDG 16:<\/strong> Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions<\/li>\n<li><strong>SDG 4:<\/strong> Quality Education<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The workshop took place on <strong>Wednesday, 25 February 2026<\/strong>, at <strong>10:00 a.m.<\/strong> in the Seminar Hall of the Department of Medical Physics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">During the event, the Dean of the College of Science, <strong>Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim<\/strong>, awarded a <strong>Letter of Appreciation<\/strong> to <strong>Assistant Professor Dr. Yasser Mahfoudh Hamid<\/strong> in recognition of his valuable contribution and active participation in the workshop.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The College Deanship and the cooperating entities reaffirmed their commitment to supporting awareness initiatives that promote equality, strengthen the role of women in the academic community, and contribute to building a safe, equitable, and participatory educational environment in line with the University\u2019s vision.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Government Media and
