The Department of Biology<\/strong> at the College of Science, University of Mosul, discussed a Master\u2019s thesis on Tuesday, February 10, 2026<\/strong>, entitled:<\/p>\n

\u201cEvaluation of Some Physiological and Biochemical Parameters as Risk Factors in Thyroid Cancer.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The thesis, presented by Hanan Aziz Nayif Ali<\/strong>, investigated several physiological and biochemical parameters as potential risk factors associated with thyroid cancer. The study included the assessment of thyroid hormone levels, sex hormones, and Selenium-Binding Protein 1 (SELENBP1)<\/strong>, in addition to examining certain risk factors such as age, sex, and body mass index (BMI).<\/p>\n

The research also involved molecular analysis and the registration of a novel genetic variant of the SELENBP1<\/strong> gene in the NCBI<\/strong> database for the first time within the Iraqi population, under the accession number:<\/p>\n
