The Department of Chemistry<\/strong> at the College of Science, University of Mosul<\/strong>, discussed a Master\u2019s thesis on Tuesday, February 10, 2026<\/strong>, entitled:<\/p>\n

\u201cSynthesis and Spectral Study of a New Series of Heterocyclic Compounds Containing the N-Amino-1,2,4-Triazole Moiety with Expected Biological Activity\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The thesis was presented by Zahraa Saeed Suleiman Al-Hayali<\/strong>, a postgraduate student in the Organic Chemistry Branch<\/strong>. Her research focused on the synthesis of several heterocyclic compounds derived from 4-amino-1,2,4-triazole<\/strong> through various synthetic pathways, along with the investigation of their spectral properties.<\/p>\n

The study included the synthesis of the 1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol<\/strong> moiety through the reaction of thiosemicarbazide derivatives<\/strong> with different organic acids, leading to the preparation of mono- and bicyclic building blocks. It also involved the synthesis of 3,1-bis(4-amino-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol) benzene<\/strong> derivatives.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the research employed a multicomponent reaction approach<\/strong> using both microwave irradiation<\/strong> and grinding techniques<\/strong> to synthesize fused heterocyclic compounds. This was followed by condensation reactions to produce a series of novel Schiff bases<\/strong>, which are expected to possess significant biological activity.<\/p>\n
