As part of academic cooperation and the exchange of expertise among Iraqi universities, Assist. Prof. Dr. Falah Abd Mohammed Al-Maamari<\/strong> from the College of Science, University of Mosul<\/strong>, participated in the defense of the Master’s thesis presented by Obaida Amer Abbas<\/strong> at the College of Science, Tikrit University<\/strong>, on Tuesday, 9 June 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The thesis, entitled:<\/p>\n

“Stratigraphy and Sedimentology of the Jeribe Formation Successions within the Northwestern Plunge of Bekhair Anticline, Northern Iraq,”<\/strong><\/p>\n

demonstrated that the Jeribe Limestone Formation<\/strong> was deposited in a shallow marine back-reef environment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The study revealed that the formation consists of alternating successions of limestone, marly limestone, dolomitic limestone<\/strong>, in addition to marl beds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The research concluded that the depositional environment of the formation was directly influenced by the active tectonic setting during the time of deposition. It also showed that the distribution of the formation was variable, with the basin margin located at the boundary between the High Folded Zone<\/strong> and the Low Folded Zone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
