{"id":50403,"date":"2026-07-06T19:04:13","date_gmt":"2026-07-06T19:04:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/science\/?p=50403"},"modified":"2026-07-09T09:06:20","modified_gmt":"2026-07-09T09:06:20","slug":"phd-thesis-discusses-the-effect-of-kama-rays-on-the-growth-of-the-mash-plant-gene-expression-of-the-globulin-protein-and-its-biological-applications","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/science\/2026\/07\/06\/phd-thesis-discusses-the-effect-of-kama-rays-on-the-growth-of-the-mash-plant-gene-expression-of-the-globulin-protein-and-its-biological-applications\/","title":{"rendered":"PhD thesis discusses the effect of Kama Rays on the growth of the mash plant, gene expression of the globulin protein and its biological applications"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of life sciences at the Faculty of Science discussed, on Monday, July 6, 2026, the doctoral thesis tagged \u201d the effect of Kama Rays in a number of growth parameters of the mash plant and gene expression responsible for the construction of the globulin protein and the study of some of its biological applications\u201d, presented by the student Ronaq Ahmed Ibrahim from the plant branch.a part of the discussion was attended by the dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Dr. Hiam Adel Ibrahim, the head of the Department of life sciences, Prof. Dr. Amjad Abdul Hadi, along with a number of faculty teachers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the study was to identify the effect of Kama rays emanating from the radioactive source americium (Am), with different exposure periods, on the germination and growth of the mash plant (Vigna radiata L.) Laboratory and field, as well as evaluating the efficiency of this type of radiation in stimulating the gene expression activity of the gene responsible for the biosynthesis of the \u03b2-Globulin protein, with the aim of determining the optimal radiation dose that contributes to enhancing plant productivity and improving its quality. The study also dealt with one of the vital applications of the mash plant in the removal of environmental pollutants represented by copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO-NPs) and the study of their effect on the physiological and chemical properties of seedling cells.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The results of the study showed that the treatment with Kama Rays contributed to the improvement of a number of vegetative growth qualities of the two varieties of mash, and brought about physiological and phenotypic changes, as well as its effect on secondary metabolites and phytohormones. The results of molecular diagnostics of plants growing from exposed and non-exposed seeds also showed a significant increase in the level of gene expression of the \u03b2-Globulin gene responsible for protein synthesis, depending on the exposure periods used.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The thesis achieved an outstanding scientific achievement, which was the registration of eight new varieties of the mash plant for the first time in the global gene bank of the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), reflecting the scientific value of the study and its contribution to the development of genetic research and improving agricultural crops.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The discussion Committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Raed Salem Ahmed, and the membership of assistant professor Dr. Nihal Ezzat Juma, assistant professor Dr. Fatima Ibrahim Sultan, assistant professor Dr. Acer Mohammed Salem, assistant professor Dr. Badia Abdul Razzak Jamal, while the thesis was supervised by Prof. Dr. Jenan Abdul Khaliq Saeed and Prof. Dr. Rana Tariq Yahya.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On the sidelines of the discussion, on behalf of the dean of the Faculty of science, professor Dr. Hiam Adel Ibrahim, the head of the Department of life sciences, professor Dr. Amjad Abdul Hadi, presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to assistant professor Dr. Fatima Ibrahim Sultan from the Agricultural Technical College \/ Northern Technical University, in appreciation of her outstanding scientific efforts and effective contributions in supporting academic and research activities, and in
