On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, the Department of life sciences at the Faculty of science at the University of Mosul held five scientific seminars for graduate students in the Hall of Professor Dr. Qusay Chalabi, in the presence of a number of department teachers and graduate students.<\/span> The scientific program began with<\/span> the first seminar presented by Azhar Yunus dhanon, PhD student in the branch of Zoology<\/span>, entitled<\/span>: \u201cDetermine the Relationship between the Role of Gene Regulation in Genes Responsible for Dilated Cardiomyopathy with Some Physiological Parameters\u201d<\/span> The seminar dealt<\/span> with the<\/span> study of the relationship<\/span> between the regulation of genes responsible for dilated cardiomyopathy and some physiological variables, in order to understand their role in the mechanisms of disease occurrence and the possibility of using them in supporting diagnostic methods.<\/span> The second<\/span> seminar<\/span> was presented<\/span> by a master’s student in the branch of microbiology, Iman said Mousa, entitled<\/span>: \u201cMolecular<\/span> diagnostics<\/span> of bacteria<\/span> causing<\/span> bacteremia<\/span> in adults<\/span> and finding<\/span> their relationship<\/span> with<\/span> liver<\/span> function<\/span>\u201d The seminar<\/span> dealt<\/span> with the diagnosis<\/span> of bacteria<\/span> causing<\/span> bacteremia<\/span> using<\/span> molecular<\/span> techniques<\/span>, and the<\/span> study of the relationship<\/span> between<\/span> bacterial<\/span> infection<\/span> and changes in liver function in adult patients.<\/span> While the master’s student in the branch of Botany, Ikhlas Abdul Rahim Mohammed, presented<\/span> the<\/span> third seminar<\/span>, entitled<\/span>: \u201cThe use<\/span> of vegetable<\/span> oils<\/span> in inhibiting<\/span> the growth of toxin-producing fungi<\/span>\u201d The seminar dealt with evaluating<\/span> the efficiency<\/span> of a number of vegetable oils in inhibiting the growth of toxin-producing fungi, and studying the possibility of using them as natural alternatives in reducing the growth of these fungi.<\/span> The fourth<\/span> seminar<\/span> was presented<\/span> by the master’s student in the branch of Botany, Faner Bashar Fadel, entitled<\/span>: \u201cThe effect of biofertilizers<\/span> on<\/span> some physiological<\/span> processes<\/span> and the content of some terpenoid compounds<\/span> in<\/span> the mint<\/span> plant<\/span> (Mentha) grown<\/span> in<\/span> two types of soil<\/span>\u201d The seminar dealt<\/span> with the<\/span> study of<\/span> the effect of biofertilizers<\/span> in<\/span> a number of physiological indicators and the content of terpenoid compounds in mint planted in two different types of soil, in order to assess their role in improving plant growth and its vital components.<\/span> The program concluded<\/span> with the fifth<\/span> seminar<\/span> presented<\/span> by the master<\/span>‘s student<\/span> in the branch of microbiology Mustafa<\/span> Basman<\/span> Idris<\/span> Ibrahim<\/span>, entitled<\/span>: “A phenotypic<\/span> and genetic<\/span> study<\/span> of pathogenic bacteria isolated from bedsores\u201d<\/span> The seminar dealt<\/span> with the<\/span> study of the phenotypic and genetic characteristics<\/span> of pathogenic bacteria isolated from bedsores, in order to identify their types and the most prominent characteristics associated with pathogenicity, in support of studies related to the diagnosis of these infections.<\/span> The first<\/span> seminar<\/span> was held<\/span> under the supervision of assistant professor<\/span> Dr. Abeer<\/span> Atallah<\/span> Ayed<\/span> and professor<\/span> Dr. Owais<\/span> Mowafaq<\/span> Hamed<\/span>, the second<\/span> seminar<\/span> was held under the supervision<\/span> of Professor Dr. Ghada Abdul Razzaq Mohammed, the third seminar was held under the supervision of Professor Dr. Maha Akram Mohammed, the fourth seminar was held under the supervision of assistant professor Dr. Alaa Hussein Ali, while the fifth seminar was held under the supervision of assistant professor Dr. Inas Abdel Moneim Hussein.<\/span> The seminars<\/span> witnessed<\/span> scientific discussions and interventions from the attendees, which contributed to enriching the research topics and discussing their various scientific aspects.<\/span> We wish<\/span> our dear<\/span> students<\/span> continued success and success<\/span> Government information and Communication Division<\/span> Wednesday<\/span>, July 22, 2026<\/span><\/p>\n
