data-src-align=\"0:238\">On Sunday, July 26, 2026, the Department of physics at the Faculty of science at the University of Mosul discussed the master&#8217;s thesis tagged \u201d improving the efficiency of heterogeneous solar cells (ZnS\/Si) using different deposition methods \u201d presented by master&#8217;s student Israa Abdulkader Khalil.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"242:196\">The dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Dr. Hiam Adel Ibrahim, and the Administrative Assistant, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Sobhi, along with a number of physics department teachers and graduate students, attended part of the discussion.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"442:186\">The purpose of the thesis was to prepare thin films of zinc sulfide (ZnS) and to study the effect of various deposition methods in their synthetic and optical properties, up to improving the performance of heterogeneous solar cells (ZnS\/Si).<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"637:7\">The study<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"629:7\">adopted<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"645:15\">two experimental tracks<\/span><span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"662:9\">, the first included<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"678:7\">the preparation of membranes<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"686:72\">by chemical Bath deposition technology (chemical Bath Deposition \u2013 CBD) to study<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"759:28\">the effect of sodium sulfide concentration<\/span><span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"795:13\">, deposition temperature<\/span><span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"810:189\">, annealing conditions, while the second track dealt with the preparation of membranes using low-frequency plasma induced atomization (LF-PIS) technology, and studying the effect of deposition time in the properties of membranes and the performance of solar cells.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1010:7\">The results<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1003:6\">showed<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1034:8\">that different<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1026:7\">preparation<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1021:4\">conditions<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1057:5\">had a direct<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1051:5\">impact<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1066:190\">on the microscopic and crystalline structure and optical properties of the membranes, as increasing the concentration and deposition temperature contributed to improving Crystal Growth and changing the grain size, as reflected on the energy gap and optical permeability values.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1263:7\">The study<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1257:5\">showed<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1274:7\">that the membranes<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1282:7\">prepared<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1290:3\">under<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1301:6\">optimal<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1294:6\">conditions<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1308:5\">possess<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1320:5\">optical<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1314:5\">properties<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1326:6\">suitable<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1333:25\">for solar cell applications.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1366:23\">The study also found the manufacture<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1395:3\">of heterogeneous<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1390:4\">junction<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1407:258\">(ZnS\/Si) showed a clear light response, with the recording of the best performance of solar cells at specific deposition conditions, while the efficiency decreased by increasing the deposition time as a result of increasing the thickness of the membranes, which provides important scientific indicators for the development of photovoltaic devices and raising their efficiency in solar energy applications.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1669:35\">The discussion Committee was chaired by Assistant Professor<\/span> <span
