In<\/span> a scientific<\/span> achievement<\/span> added to<\/span> the Register<\/span> of innovations<\/span> and research<\/span> achievements<\/span>, a research team from the Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of science at the University of Mosul was granted<\/span> a patent from<\/span> the Central<\/span> Organization<\/span> for Standardization<\/span> and quality<\/span> control<\/span> \/ Iraqi<\/span> Ministry of planning<\/span>, for<\/span> their branded<\/span> innovation<\/span>: \u201cPreparation<\/span> of a new<\/span> polymer<\/span> from triazole derivatives specialized<\/span> for the removal<\/span> of mercury<\/span> from<\/span> aqueous<\/span> solutions<\/span>\u201d The patent<\/span> has<\/span> been granted<\/span> to both<\/span>: Professor<\/span> Dr. Asaad<\/span> Faisal<\/span> Khattab<\/span> – Faculty of Science \/ University of Mosul<\/span>. Professor<\/span> Dr. Hana<\/span> Shukr<\/span> Mahmoud<\/span> – Faculty of Science \/ University of Mosul<\/span>. The decision<\/span> to grant<\/span> the patent<\/span> was<\/span> issued<\/span> on July 16<\/span>, 2026, after completing all the technical and legal procedures for its registration.<\/span> This innovation<\/span> is an<\/span> important<\/span> scientific<\/span> step<\/span> in the field of environmental pollution treatment<\/span>, as it provides<\/span> a new<\/span> polymer<\/span> material<\/span> with<\/span> high<\/span> efficiency<\/span> in removing<\/span> mercury<\/span> ions<\/span> from aqueous solutions, contributing to the development of water treatment technologies and reducing the risks of pollutants with heavy elements, as well as supporting modern trends in finding sustainable scientific solutions to environmental problems.<\/span> This achievement embodies the outstanding scientific level of the Faculty of Science researchers<\/span>, and confirms<\/span> the leading<\/span> role<\/span> played<\/span> by the faculty in supporting scientific research and innovation, and providing research solutions that contribute to serving the community and keeping pace with the requirements of sustainable development.<\/span> On this occasion, the Deanship of the Faculty of science extends<\/span> its sincere<\/span> congratulations<\/span> and congratulations to the researchers, wishing them continued success and success, and more giving and scientific achievements that enhance the status of the University and complement the scientific march in Iraq.<\/span><\/p>\n
