The Department of life sciences at the Faculty of Science \/ University of Mosul, on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, discussed the master’s thesis tagged \u201d evaluation of gene expression of genes associated with the immune response in neutrophils infected with the tropical Leishmania parasite (Leishmania tropica) \u201d presented by student Sora Saleh Saeb Yunus al-Jubouri, Zoology specialist.<\/span> The aim of the study was to evaluate some of the immunological and biochemical indicators associated with the immune response in patients with leishmaniasis caused by the Leishmania tropica parasite in Mosul, by measuring the concentrations of a number of immunological indicators, including IL-10ra, RAB7A and YEZH2, as well as chemical indicators represented by Vitamin D3, ferritin, procalcitonin, calcium and LDH enzyme, in order to clarify its role in the mechanisms of immune response and pathogenesis associated with infection.<\/span> The study<\/span> was<\/span> not limited<\/span> to evaluating these indicators individually<\/span>, but<\/span> also addressed<\/span> the relationship<\/span> between<\/span> immunological and biochemical changes<\/span> and<\/span> the mechanisms of interaction of the parasite<\/span> with immune cells, as the results showed that local infection with Leishmania dermatophytes causes physiological and systemic disorders represented by a significant decrease in calcium and vitamin D3 levels, and a clear increase in the LDH enzyme, which indicates cellular damage and increased tissue turnover rate.<\/span> The results<\/span> also<\/span> showed<\/span> a significant<\/span> increase<\/span> in the level of RAB7A, while there were no significant differences in the levels of IL-10ra, EZH2, ferritin and procalcitonin, which indicates that the immune response in cutaneous leishmaniasis is characterized by a local response rather than a systemic inflammatory response, which opens up new horizons for understanding the overlap between immunity and metabolism in the pathogenicity of the disease, and the possibility of using these indicators in improving diagnosis and clinical follow-up of patients.<\/span> The discussion<\/span> Committee<\/span> was chaired<\/span> by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Salah al-Din Abdul, with the membership of Prof. Dr. Bushra Hassan Saeed, assistant professor Dr. Marwa Hashem Dawood, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sinai Abdullah Ali Ibrahim al-jarjari.<\/span> We wish<\/span> the students and teachers of our college more<\/span> success<\/span> and success<\/span> Information and Government Communication Division<\/span><\/p>\n
