The Department of life sciences at the Faculty of Science \u2013 University of Mosul, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, discussed the master’s thesis tagged \u201d the role of giving chemical doses in gastrointestinal cancer patients using hematological and biochemical indicators \u201d by student Zubaida Mohammed Al-Dulaimi from the specialty (Zoology) .<\/span> The dissertation<\/span> dealt<\/span> with the evaluation<\/span> of the effect of administering chemical doses<\/span> in<\/span> patients with gastrointestinal<\/span> cancers<\/span>, through a comparative study of a set of hematological and chemobiological indicators with the control group, with the aim of accurately identifying the changes associated with the disease and chemotherapy.<\/span> The study<\/span> aimed<\/span> to identify<\/span> the physiological<\/span> complications<\/span> associated<\/span> with the treatment period<\/span>, as the results<\/span> showed<\/span> that colon<\/span> cancer<\/span> was<\/span> the most<\/span> common<\/span> type of gastrointestinal<\/span> cancer<\/span> among<\/span> patients<\/span>, while monitoring<\/span> the remarkable<\/span> prevalence<\/span> of<\/span> some accompanying<\/span> factors<\/span> such<\/span> as diabetes<\/span>, high<\/span> blood pressure<\/span>, and smoking.<\/span> The<\/span> study<\/span> also recorded<\/span> a significant<\/span> decrease<\/span> in most hematological indicators (hemoglobin concentration, the volume of PCV-stacked blood cells, the numbers of erythrocytes, whites, platelets), attributed to the effect of chemotherapy in the bone marrow, as well as chronic hemorrhage and malnutrition accompanying the disease.<\/span> At the biochemical<\/span> level<\/span>, the results showed a significant increase<\/span> in urea and creatinine concentrations, the effectiveness of the ALT and AST enzymes, and bilirubin levels, indicating that liver and kidney function were affected as a result of complications of the disease or toxicity resulting from treatment.<\/span> The study<\/span> also showed<\/span> a significant<\/span> decrease<\/span> in calcium and vitamin D3 levels due to malabsorption and metabolic disorder, which emphasizes the importance of continuous laboratory follow-up of patients for early detection and avoidance of these complications.<\/span> The discussion<\/span> Committee<\/span> was chaired<\/span> by Prof. Dr. Zahraa Mohammed Ali Ahmed, with the membership of Prof. Dr. Fatima Qasim Mohammed Hassan, Assistant Professor Dr. Marwa Hashim Daoud hammoushi, and under the supervision and membership of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Ismail Mohammed Hassan.<\/span> We wish<\/span> our dear<\/span> students<\/span> continued excellence and<\/span> success<\/span> in their scientific career.<\/span><\/p>\n
