The Department of Earth and petroleum sciences at the Faculty of Science \u2013 University of Mosul, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, discussed the master’s thesis tagged \u201d life stratigraphy of calcareous nanoliths to form a controversy in the well (Az_29) in northwestern Iraq \u201d by master’s student Ahmed Abdul Ahmed Khalaf Al-Haji, in the presence of the head of the department Dr. Omar khalouq Mohammed Sajid and a number of department teachers and graduate students.<\/span> The study dealt with the classification of<\/span> calcareous nanofossils<\/span> (Calcareous<\/span> Nannofossils<\/span>) of stratigraphic rock sequences belonging to the Jadala formation (lutetian \u2013 pribonian) in the Ain Zala oil field through well no.Az.<\/span>29<\/span>) north-western<\/span> Iraq<\/span>, as well as determining its stratigraphic zone and extrapolating the ancient climate prevailing in that time period.<\/span> The main<\/span> results<\/span> and conclusions<\/span> of the study<\/span> : A broad<\/span> phylogenetic<\/span> diagnosis<\/span>: (45) species belonging to (17) genera of calcareous nanofossils have been diagnosed, including (36) previously named species, two similar species, and(7) currently left open-named species.<\/span> – Identification<\/span> of life<\/span> zones<\/span> and age<\/span>: three main zones were identified<\/span>, and the first zone was divided<\/span> into<\/span> three secondary<\/span> sub<\/span>-life<\/span> zones<\/span> (in descending order from the newest at the top to the oldest at the bottom)<\/span>: Discoaster barbadiensis Interval Subbiozone (CP15)<\/span> Reticulofenestra umbilicus Interval Subbiozone (CP14)<\/span> Nannotetrina cf.<\/span> quadrata interval Range Biozone (CP13)<\/span> c- Ericsonia formosa Interval Subbiozone (CP13c)<\/span> b- Chiasmolithus gigas total Range Subbiozone (CP13b)<\/span> a- Nannotetrina alata Interval Subbiozone (CP13a)<\/span> Based<\/span> on this region, the age of the formation was determined as (middle Eocene \u2013 upper Eocene).<\/span> Paleoclimate<\/span> extrapolation<\/span>: the study concluded through the indicative species<\/span> that<\/span> the studied stratigraphic<\/span> sequences<\/span> were deposited<\/span> in a warm water environment within subtropical to tropical zones.<\/span> The discussion Committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Fares<\/span> najras<\/span> Hassan<\/span> (University of Tikrit<\/span>), and the membership<\/span> of<\/span>: Assistant<\/span> professor<\/span> Dr. Maha<\/span> Abdul<\/span> Hamid<\/span> Mustafa<\/span>, teacher<\/span> Dr.<\/span> Rana<\/span> Abdul<\/span> Ilah<\/span> Mahmoud<\/span> Under the supervision<\/span> and membership of Prof. Dr. Omar Ahmed moloud Al-Badrani.<\/span> At<\/span> the end of the discussion, on behalf of the dean of the Faculty of science, professor Dr. Hiam Adel Ibrahim al-Taie, the head of the department, Dr. Omar khalouk Mohammed Sajid, presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to Professor Dr. Fares najras Hassan from the Faculty of science, Tikrit University, in appreciation of his trouble traveling and chairing the discussion Committee.<\/span> Our wishes<\/span> to the researcher and to all our students and teachers of our college for success, excellence and scientific creativity.<\/span><\/p>\n
