class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"0:350\">The Department of Earth and petroleum sciences at the Faculty of Science \u2013 University of Mosul, on Thursday, August 27, 2026, discussed the master&#8217;s thesis tagged \u201d life stratigraphy of calcareous nanostructures for nucleicane formation of a section in northern Iraq \u201d by master&#8217;s student Moaz Ahmed Fadel Mohammed al-Mashhadani, in the presence of the head of the department, Dr. Omar khalouk Mohammed Sajid, and a number of department teachers and graduate students.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"354:323\">The dissertation dealt with the classification of calcareous nanofossils (Calcareous Nannofossils) of the rock stratigraphic sequences belonging to the nauklikan formation in the study section located within the northern flank of the Sara \u2013 surdash fold extending from Sulaymaniyah to Dukan district in north-eastern Iraq, as well as accurately determining the age of the formation and extrapolating the conditions of the climate and the ancient depositional environment.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"681:4\">The main<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"686:5\">results<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"692:10\">and conclusions<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"703:7\">of the study<\/span> : <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"722:4\">Distinct qualitative<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"716:5\">diagnosis<\/span>: <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"740:7\">the study<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"751:5\">resulted in the diagnosis<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"757:3\">of (36<\/span><span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"762:5\">) species<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"768:5\">belonging<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"779:102\">to (15) genera of calcareous nanofossils, including( 28) previously named species and (currently left open-named species.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"885:5\">&#8211; Identification<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"891:5\">of three<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"903:6\">life<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"897:5\">zones<\/span><span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"911:8\">: based on<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"931:7\">the diagnosed<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"924:6\">crowds<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"939:8\">and<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"948:6\">the types of function<\/span><span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"959:30\">, three main life zones have been identified<\/span> (<span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"991:5\">arranged<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1000:16\">from the oldest at the bottom<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1017:3\">to<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1021:6\">the newest<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1031:6\">at the top<\/span><span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1039:3\">), namely<\/span>: <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1047:55\">Cyclagelosphaera wiedmannii Total Range Biozone (NJT12)<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1104:49\">Lotharingius sigillatus Interval Biozone (NJT13a)<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1155:52\">Helenea staurolithina Partial Range Biozone (NJT13b)<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1209:6\">Based<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1220:81\">on this, it was concluded that the age of the nuclekan formation dates back to the (late calovian \u2013 Oxfordian).<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1313:6\">Extrapolation of climate<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1328:159\">and Paleoenvironment: biomarkers from the function species indicated that the nauclican formation was deposited in a deep and warm marine environment under subtropical to tropical climatic conditions.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1495:7\">The study<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1489:5\">recommended<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1503:193\">the need to conduct detailed and extensive stratigraphic studies to determine the life zones in the typical sections of all geological formations in Iraq, which contributes to providing an integrated scientific picture of the age and environmental differences between them.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\"
