class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"58:2\">, August 31,<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"67:223\">2026, the doctoral dissertation tagged \u201d preparation of clay\u2013biochar overlays and their use as sustainable adsorbents and catalysts\u201d, submitted by doctoral student Esraa Ali Hassan, specializing in industrial chemistry, in the Hall of Professor Dr. Saadallah Tawfik.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"299:218\">The aim of the study was to prepare sustainable composites from locally available raw materials, including kaolin clay and walnut shells, using acetic chloride and ferric chloride as activating agents, and employing the prepared composites in multiple environmental and industrial applications.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"531:10\">The compounds<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"548:288\">were used as adsorbents to remove methylene blue dye and hexachrome ions from contaminated aqueous solutions, as well as heterogeneous solid catalysts were used in thermal cracking of biomass residues, in particular date cores, as well as local oil residues from Ain Zala, with the aim of producing improved liquid fuels and valuable petroleum derivatives.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"847:7\">The results<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"840:6\">showed<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"868:5\">a high<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"861:6\">adsorption<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"855:5\">efficiency<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"874:10\">of the compounds<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"888:5\">in removing<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"894:8\">pollutants<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"913:8\">from real<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"906:6\">water<\/span><span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"923:2\">, while<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"926:8\">retaining<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"935:8\">its efficiency<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"944:3\">when<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"948:5\">reused<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"970:82\">for more than four cycles, which enhances the possibility of using it as a sustainable adsorbent in industrial applications.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1060:61\">The use of Catalyst overlays in the thermal cracking of date cores also contributed<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1125:247\">to the production of a bio-oil that can be used in the production of a number of oxidized hydrocarbon compounds, while their use in the thermal cracking of oil residues led to the production of improved liquid fuel that can be used in the production of light petroleum derivatives, including caseolin, kerosene and diesel fuel.<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1376:39\">The discussion committee consisted of the experienced professor<\/span> <span class=\"YPkS7KbdpWfGdYKd3QB9\" data-src-align=\"1424:4\">Dr. Fawzi<\/span> <span specialization, and the applied importance of the study in the treatment of pollutants, the reinvestment of waste and the development of sustainable materials and fuels.<\/span> <span
